# Episode 103 The Big Short

**Speaker 0:** Tom Torero podcast, a 103, the big short, and this is the first podcast I've ever done lying flat on my back. In Wales, why am I lying on my back? Well, what I thought was a little minor hamstring or a tendon injuries and damage or a pulled ligament, whatever, has turned out to be a herniated disc in my lower back with some pretty nasty sciatic pain. So I sympathize with you if you've had back pain before or sciatic pain. It's bloody horrible and, I've had twinges since February and March but, it's really kicked in now so ironically I meant to be here looking after somebody but, they're kind of looking after me as well. Two patients in the Torero hospital. But whilst I've been lying on my back and doing physio and icing and heating and stretching and all that good stuff, I finished cold calling. So that is now, being delivered to me any day now so I can do the proof copy. That will be first a paperback on lulu, then it will be hopefully in a couple of months time on amazon kindle. And I've been catching up on emails, so if you've been waiting for a reply, I'm sorry, my inbox is being ridiculous. I'm getting around to it. I'll try and reply to as many as I can. And what else have I been doing? Starting my new project, the big one about black sheep living. Right? So I'll talk about that more in the future. Anyway, on to today's topic. It's a meaty one. It's a big one. It's called the big short. And maybe you recognize that term from the movie or the book from 2007, 2008, the financial crisis. Maybe you're an economist. Forgive my dodgy knowledge of economics or trading or the stock market. Shorting means, I think selling stock without technically owning it and then buying it back at a lower price because you've predicted a downturn, you've predicted a bit of the old bear, a bit of a crash. Yeah. And that's called short selling and you make a profit of it. And people have an idiot reaction and say, that's greedy, that's selfish, that's profiting from the misfortune of others. When really, yeah, it's straight out of the dark triad playbook. It's part of free market economics. We're going to talk about how it's win win, and obviously, we're not gonna talk about economics today. We're gonna talk about sexual economics and daygame and why I call it hustling. Because many guys say, why did you call the textbook street hustle and not, you know, a daygame textbook? I shall explain. First of all, I think I might have used this quote before, but it's a good one for this podcast by Nasim Talib. He says, the loser bemoans mankind's flaws and irrationality instead of exploiting them for fun and profit. So yeah, the world is as it is. People are selfish. So let's use that fact. Bad things happen. Let's use that fact. Okay? It doesn't have to be so dark and nasty. Think of a rainstorm. Once I saw this in New York City in the hot, heavy, sticky summer. Suddenly, heavy rainstorm and from nowhere, loads of guys wheeling trolleys of umbrellas. They were umbrella salesman. Maybe in the sun they sell ice creams or bicycle hires, I don't know, but they were earning a profit from the rain. Or think of divorce lawyers, yeah? People get divorced, certain type of lawyer makes lots of money. So that's shorting the situation. And the book was about the people who predicted and believed that bubble, 2007, 2008 was going to pop and it did, and they made a lot of money. I think economists say that every, what is it, three, four, five years, there's a bit of a bear market anyway, and people panic and they sell and they move stuff around. But certain people not just ride them out, but they profit from them. Yep. That's saying, be greedy when others are fearful and enjoy the market crashes. Maybe that's Warren Buffett. I can't remember. Maybe you've seen the movie War Dogs about shorting of a different nature, the arms trade, so profiting from a war. Maybe that's one of the main reasons of wars. Who knows? But it's a book it's a film, sorry, based on the book, Arms and the Dudes, about some stoner kind of DIY arms dealers who were faking it till they made it, and then they made it and they started selling weapons and stuff to the US army during the Afghan war. That is based on a true story. Not a bad movie, not as good as the big short, but the same principle, profiting during a dodgy downturn situation. And you've heard me talking about 21, the movie or the book bringing down the house, Ben Mesrich. The true story of those MIT nerdy card counters who were winning against Las Vegas, profiting from the casino legally using mathematics is clamped down now obviously, but in a situation where most people lose and they were playing at tables where people lose, they were shorting the the situation. They were hacking it. Yeah. That's the hustle. And people say, why did you call it street hustle? Is that really dodgy? As in you're hustling girls, who technically shouldn't be sleeping with you. Are you doing hit and runs, sleeping with them and running away, lying to them, pretending to be their boyfriend. Well, you could say that's the first type of hustle. Yeah. In the beginning, fake it till you make it. You haven't quite got the value, but you're presenting yourself as that alpha player. She falls for it, quote unquote. Remember, I'm not judging. Evolutionary biology is amoral, not immoral. But, this is the language that people speak. So, yeah, you sleep with a girl who's hotter than you and you've presented yourself as this kind of guy. That is the definition of game. You're hustling. But the the bigger hustle, the second type of hustle is when you're hustling society. Because other guys are limited to the sexual marketplace of their work or their gym or their social circle or Tinder, Jesus Christ, or online. And you're going out there and saying fuck that, let's create a new sexual marketplace and I'm gonna deliver my sexual market value much better than you. So that's the win automatically. You're shorting the system, you're having the last laugh just by doing it. As I said in my recent video on awkward daygame, watch that awkward daygame in field on YouTube. Ninety nine point nine nine nine nine percent of men don't do it during the day because they're not drunk, their friends aren't with them, there's no plausible deniability of the club. A few guys do do it, a percentage does do it, but they do it in cheesy, guy mode, snake seduction, you know, offering her photography or salsa lessons or English classes or their providers, they offer to fly her to Dubai or to Cairns or they are, yeah, just uncalibrated. So the percentage of guys that actually can walk up to a girl, you don't hide your dick, you tell her what you want, you do it in lover mode, cad not dad, lover not provider, alpha fucks, beta fucks, all that good stuff and it works. That in itself, just by doing it, you're light years ahead of other people. So there's the big short. Okay? And guys moan about the current situation like the financial crisis. Everybody moans and panics. That's why I call it the moaner's fear. So many guys going, women are so masculine, women are bitchy. And they're moaning in both ways, you know, Women are too promiscuous or Women are not promiscuous enough. You just can't win, okay? So while they're moaning online on forums and all that stuff, keyboard pickup artistry, you're going out there taking advantage of these situations. Taking advantage of the good stuff of feminism, taking advantage of the fact that other guys are not doing it and knowing that it's those girls that say they're strong and independent, it's those girls that are the most vocal, they are the ones that love being dominated. Secretly they're looking for daddy and they're looking for the masculine man. I tweeted recently, now more than ever it's easy to stand out to girls if you're unapologetically male. They're craving guys who don't bow down to equalism and they're also craving guys who don't moan about it. Yep. So you can call it what you want, the pussification of men, the feminism of men, feminization of men, men being under the thumb, men have lost the frame, whatever. Yeah, that's true but therefore vis a vis it's never been easier to just be a normal bloke, to stand up and just by doing that, by being male, you win. Just by not hiding your dick, not being ashamed of who you are, not being ashamed of wanting sex. Obviously you have to go up and approach, that's cold approach, that's essential for the short. Yeah, you win by just by doing it. So take advantage of the situation. I've said a thousand times. These are all loopholes. Okay. The red pill is not something to be depressed about. It's giving you a road map, a blueprint, the secret code, the entrance code to the secret society saying, there you go. Never in the history of humanity has casual sex been so easy in the West. Yeah. Promiscuity through the roof. So enjoy it. Enjoy the ride. We'll be talking about today sexual market value, the sexual marketplace and all these different types of hacks. Alright. They are based on Darwinian free market economics, free market forces, simple economic principles of supply and demand, scarcity increases value. Tattoo that on your head. Scarcity increases value. And people often say a nightclub is a quote unquote meat market. And in street hustle I say, well, yeah, it is. Right? People don't like to think of market forces applying to them, supply and demand, in terms of evolutionary biology and reproduction, but it does. Okay? In a nightclub there are a limited number of hot girls. There are lots and lots of thirsty guys. Males and females are scanning each other for relative SMB, sexual market value, in that SMP, the sexual marketplace. They're testing each other, especially the girls. Is this guy's value real or is it fake? That's okay. That's their job to do that. Then they're pairing up, and then they're disappearing off, maybe to the toilets, maybe Uber home, and having sex. Sex. So yes, it is a meat market. I call that sexual economics. If you want to know more about that, read Street Hustle. And in that free market, obviously there's some kinds of people trying to restrict that free trade and that would be religions or strict ideologies trying to limit, these market forces. But as history tells you, that's not a good idea. I call it the pressure cooker effect. Okay? So when a religious girl comes over from Turkey to England to study at that summer school, she goes absolutely crazy, or when that evangelical Christian girl or that Mormon or that Scientology girl or that feminist girl, she, she meets Tom Torero or a pickup artist, She goes absolutely nuts with her sexuality. Yep. Now many markets are flooded. So let's talk about shorting. Okay? Because most people are operating, as I said, online or tinder, you know, or in a nightclub because that's what's socially acceptable, yeah. Guys are meeting their girlfriends and wives, future wives at work or in the gym or certainly perving at girls in the gym or, in their social circle and that might not have changed since your high school. You might be hanging around with the same people, that you did when you were 19. Okay? So the hierarchy's already been established. It's very hard to change your position in that hierarchy. Whereas cold approach, pickup, daygame, that's why I call it street hustling, just says fuck it. I'm gonna create my own marketplace. That's why I moved to London or one of the results of me moving to London was learning daygame and realizing fucking hell, I'm in this anonymous huge sexual marketplace where nobody knows me. I can reinvent my sexual market value. Alright? Hustle number one, presenting stuff that I didn't have. Hustle number two, becoming that and then just being a cad in the secret society. You can change city. You can go to the source. So if you really like Brazilian girls, can go to Brazil where their relative value is less because they're all Brazilian as opposed to those two really hot ones in your local town etcetera etcetera. And coming back to that tweet about standing out, well, yeah, the scarcity of alpha guys just leads to higher demand. So now more than ever, women are crying out for this stuff. They don't want to hold the frame. They want you to take it back. They're shit testing you because they just want you to prove them wrong. They are like testing the supply teacher, yeah, or the puppy is just testing its owners. It wants to be dominated, yes, in that good, mutual way but you get what I mean. Okay, so don't moan about it, Use it to your advantage. Don't moan about girls being promiscuous. Use it to your advantage. Girls are in dire need of this stuff. And my favorite part of feminism is, yeah, girls being sexually liberated, the anonymity, the secret society sex, the lifting of religious pressures. Obviously, I don't like the restricting of male sexual promiscuity, the shaming of that. Many things I don't like about feminism, I don't moan about it, certainly not online, because I realized long ago, while all those other men are moaning about it, while the girls are whining, I just take advantage of the situation. So it's like all those people that moan about bear and bull and they, moan and discuss online about crashes and they try to predict it especially during the financial crash. While you're online moaning, someone else is making a profit or as as the umbrella salesman would say in New York City, as it's raining and everybody's moaning and all those other sellers are moaning, he's smiling. He ran home, got his trolley and he's making a profit. Yep. Let's think about some hacks then. Let's think about, some practical things in daygame where you can do this kind of shorting. Hotter girls. Right? Less guys approach hotter girls. Most guys don't even approach the sixes and sevens but daygamers do. Not many daygamers go for the scary looking girls, the girls with the high heels walking fast, headphones in, sunglasses on, hood up. Yep. The Victoria's Secret ish kind of models, the girls carrying portfolios, scary girls, girls in higher pressure places. I said this on the recent YouTube video. Less guys approach. So not even daygamers approach in Victoria's Secret or asking for, a waitress's number in a calibrated way or stopping a girl on a bike. You see those situations on that YouTube video. You probably know the hack of single mums so girls that are 19, 20, 21, they are easy, they're looking for a lover. Girls who are 27, 28, they've had their partiers lying on your back and talking, it's quite hard actually. You swallow your words quite literally. But yeah, girls in their late twenties, they're looking to find the provider, right? They've had their fun, they're looking to settle down but then when she's had a kid or she's a divorced woman, maybe she's in her mid thirties, yeah it's maybe not younger but it can be hotter. Definitely in Russia there's super hot 30 year old women, or sorry women in their thirties even in their forties. In Los Angeles saw some very nice stuff. So that's a niche that you can exploit a bit like, going for something you don't normally go for and that other daygamers don't go for like black girls in New York and London if you're a European guy. I don't know why, but daygamers just don't go for them. They can be very, very hot, and I had a good hit rate, not as in killing them with a gun, but as in picking them up. It worked really well in Soho in London and in Soho in New York, so give that one a go. My favorite kind of big shorts in pickup is Gutter Game. Right? Because all these poor fuckers I used to feel sorry for them, but now I don't. All these guys doing night game, all the provider guys buying them drinks, table, hosting, getting them into clubs. The girls have gone out at ten. They've been drinking in bars, and then they go to the club, they stand in a circle, they dance on their bags, they blow guys off, not just blow guys, but they blow guys off, the cock blocks come in, the girls go to the bathroom, as I said, it's a different skill set. Again, really same principles but different rubber meets the road skill set. I admire these guys. And anyway, the girl is faced with ten, twenty, 30 guys coming up to her. She says no no no. She says okay good night and around 2AM 3AM the girls leave, they go and get food, the girl goes to the bus stop and then she meets a gutter game daygamer. I called it gutter game because yeah it's down and dirty in the gutter, around Leicester Square or Meatpacking District or what's that dirty street in Austin, Texas called? You get the idea. There's me picking up a girl using gutter game, in Vancouver on Stealth Seduction. So she's rejected all these guys and, you haven't stepped foot into a nightclub, you haven't bought anyone a drink, you haven't been drinking yourself, you haven't had battle all that night game bollocks, you just pick her up at 1AM, 2AM and it's a bounce for some food or it's a bounce straight back to your same day lay, same night lay rather. That's what I love doing in Scandinavia, particularly in Oslo on Kaljohans because you can just say to the girl in Scandinavia after party and that's a great concept in Scandinavia after party that just means let's go back to your house and girls are very trusting okay that sounds very nice That sounded a bit rash. But, oh, I do like Swedish girls in Oslo during the summer. There's a little hack for you. What's another hack? Ovulating girls, ovulating women, knowing the time of the month, which the female of the species in humans tries to hide for good reason, but good day gamers can spot it, then you approach her and you think, okay, instant day, bounce to the park, bounce to a bar, same day lay. Or as I've already said, a bit of arbitrage which is trading what you've got in abundance for what the other person's got in scarcity and vice versa. It's a win win trade so it's like you going to Moscow or you going to Brazil. Just going to where there's more girls of your type, it doesn't mean the girls are any easier. It's just there's more of that hotness. It's all about the relative value. Yep. So certainly, you can get a number. You're still gonna need the day game skill set for the texting, definitely for the dating, for the leading and the escalating, you know, there's no there's no Atlantis, there's no pussy paradise. Okay? And the last hustle, I jotted this down because I often neglect to say it, is that guys in their thirties are laughing, whereas guys in their early twenties are finding it difficult. And if you had told me when I was 21 that I'd find it easier as a 37 year old guy to pick up 18, 19, 20, 21 year old girls. That just wouldn't make sense. But I've seen it with my own eyes, for myself, for fellow good day gamers, for students. Guys do better when you reach 30. Alright? Sexual market value for a male peaks between the age of 30, 35, but there's daygamers killing it who are 40. There's guys I've been on the road with recently who are 49, 50, 51. They're not being providers, but they're still sleeping with girls who are 20 to 25 younger and hotter. Okay. So that is a great short because society is telling you it's creepy, which is usually just other guys being jealous. And you'd be surprised. A lot of daygamers are just picking up 26, 27, 28 year old girls. They have this thing in their head. Whereas on stealth seduction, fuck that, you see me picking up 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, etcetera etcetera. So there's a hack to be had, there's a loophole right there. And as I said, girls have that promiscuous alpha fucks desire particularly in their late teens. Okay? Makes perfect biological sense. So surprise, surprise, daygame works better then. Alright. We're going to talk about sexual market value to finish the podcast. I've done a post on this based on an infographic that I made in 2014 or had made rather and I'll link that below to summarize this but many guys still are confused about what is a guy's sexual market value. Yeah? Because they look at a girl and they think, well, it's just a girl's looks. And you're right. It's also her age, but it's basically her looks. Poor girls. But for a guy, it's a lot more complex. That's why questions like, do looks matter? Or does money matter? Or does going to the gym matter? They're just too simplistic, right? Male sexual market value thank god is a lot more complex. Alright and I break it down into three things, ascribed which is genetic so that's, your age, As it increases your IQ, your height, things like your nationality and most of your looks, that's just your DNA. Okay? The second thing which providers like or snake seduction guys like is external stuff. So money and status. Status in some kind of hierarchy or ecosystem. And the third thing which pickup artist like is the learn stuff. And this is what I'm projecting, your charm, your charisma, your confidence, your leading, your social intelligence which is much more important than IQ for pickup, your life experiences that's why 30, 35, 40 year old guys find it a lot easier and your ability pulling the trigger, escalating, right? Stuff like that which you can learn, I'm living proof of it, that's all to do with your sexual market value. That's why questions like do looks matter or is it about money are far too simplistic and that debate will rage forever because it's a complete misunderstanding of what women are actually attracted to. Okay? And underneath that infographic I make some key points. Firstly, that yes, high value males do sleep with high value females, but it's relative. Your height is relative to the person standing next to you. Your sexual market value is relative to the people, the males around you. And, game in itself, cold approach in itself is a yes, it's a value delivery mechanism but it also adds to that as I've said because so few guys are doing it. So that's a big short straight off. Yeah. And you need to work to reach your potential sexual market value. You've got your current sexual market value, but you can flip those triggers where girls say, wow, this guy's got high sexual market value. Firstly, it's that beginner hustle, fake it till you make it. And secondly, you actually make it. Right? But you've got a long way to go. Everyone's got a long way to go with maxing out on all those levels of ascribed, external and learned, specifically learned. Okay? It's never ending, improving your value, improving your value. And different, components signal different things. This is what's confusing to beginner guys. So yeah, you could go with money and status, or just really good looks and that might signal one thing. The money certainly signals provider. Yeah? Whereas we want to signal lover. So you might want to focus on your leading, on your escalating. Yeah. Age does impact on the ascribe. So does age matter? Well, yeah, partly, but you could then switch to provider game, which I don't recommend. It's not even game. Maybe if you're 60, 70, 80, yeah, splash the cash. But you're much better off, let's say, you are in your thirties, in your forties, maybe in your fifties, or you're worried about your height or you you haven't got perfect looks like me, you say, well, okay. I'm not going to do the external stuff. I'm not going to become a DJ or I'm not going to be in a rock band or I'm not going to be a CEO or I'm not going to use my money. I'm going to learn do learned. So I'm going to improve my leading, improve my social intelligence, improve my life experiences, you know, go traveling, have something to talk about, improve my skills with pulling the trigger and escalating. Yeah, that's that's fine. So whilst, external is quite brittle. Yeah. The money stuff and the status stuff is quite brittle. The learned stuff, it lasts the longest as I've already said and it's definitely the most portable. So you can just take it to a new sexual marketplace and start. Okay. So play to your value strengths, but definitely, if you're listening to this podcast and you read street hustle, you're focusing on the learned stuff. And the answer to that age old question, can, it be improved on in terms of do girls find you attractive? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I am living proof to that. And a man's value is not always obvious. So guys look at me, bit scruffy, you know, and they think, well, maybe it's his male model looks. Maybe he's just really rich or maybe he's just got a really super powerful position. No. Look closer. Look how that guy with a really hot girlfriend, look how he leads. Look how he holds the frame. Look how he's sexual. Yeah. Look how he's got lots of social intelligence from having, flirted and picked up and dated loads of girls. Right? Maybe look at his life experiences. Look at his cheeky charm. Look at his charisma. Look at his confidence with women. Yep. Not always completely obvious from the beginning. So it's not enough to have value, you've got to deliver it. I've said many times, right? You can't just have an awesome product, you can't have crap marketing to go with that product, you've got to deliver it. It's like having a Ferrari in the garage, you've got to drive it out the garage. And I'll finish with that quote. You can't fuck a 100% of the girls, you don't approach. So the big short, the big hack, the big loophole, the big hustle is cold approach, pickup. Whilst the other guys are hiding behind screens, their social skills with girls are atrophying with, all this technology, with relying on being drunk, with relying on being with your mates, with relying on being on a stag do, with other people egging you on as a dare. The day gamer, sober in the middle of the day, he's not running any kind of snake seduction, he walks up to the girl in lover mode ideally, and he tells her what he wants. Okay? And girls admire this even if she's just a no. Okay? They really admire this because because this is rare, and scarcity increases value. As I said in that tweet, it's never been more easy to stand out. So I really encourage you in big cities in the West to daygame. Hopefully, I'm preaching to the choir because you're listening to this and you do do digging. Anyway, that's it. That was podcast a 103. I've got to get up.
